In California
Driving is a Privilege,
not a Right!

You must have a
VALID LICENSE
to drive.

A valid license is one which is not SUSPENDED, REVOKED, or EXPIRED, and is issued to you.

Your driver's license may be SUSPENDED or REVOKED if:

  • You have been arrested for D.U.I.
  • You have refused a chemical test for blood alcohol.
  • You have been involved in a collision without insurance.
  • You failed to appear in court.
  • You failed to complete a court ordered program.
  • You violated your probation or parole.
  • You failed to provide child support.
  • You have been issued a citation for being an unlicensed driver.
  • You have medical restrictions.

S.T.O.P. Fact: More than 50% of all persons driving with a suspended license were convicted of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

S T O P

IF YOU GET CAUGHT DRIVING
WITHOUT A LICENSE...

YOU WILL BE ARRESTED!

In California, driving without a license is a misdemeanor crime, and you are subject to arrest. However, under certain circumstances, some agencies will release you after issuing you a citation (ticket). By signing the citation, you are promising to appear in court at the date and time specified on the citation.

If you fail to appear, the court will issue a warrant for your arrest.

YOU COULD GO TO JAIL
AND PAY A FINE!

Depending on your previous driving record and criminal history, you could be sentenced to 6 months in County Jail, and be fined up to $1,000.00 for your first offense.

S.T.O.P. Fact: 33% of drivers with a suspended or
revoked license have a criminal record. 85% of those
drivers use their vehicle in the commission of a crime.

YOUR VEHICLE WILL BE
IMPOUNDED FOR 30 DAYS!

The Serious Traffic Offender Program enforces
a MANDATORY tow policy.

What is the
Serious Traffic Offender Program

Since 1990, traffic collisions in the City of Lemoore have more than doubled. As a result of these collisions, the Lemoore Police Department responded to 183 traffic collisions where 53 people have been injured. Statistics show that a significant number of the collisions were caused by unlicensed drivers and drivers who were driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

In an effort to combat this traffic safety problem, the Lemoore Police Department applied for and received a $100,000 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.

The grant funding has enabled the Lemoore Police Department to create the Traffic Offender Program. The program will use an aggressive multi-disciplinary approach, balancing education with enforcement to increase the public's awareness of the hazards and consequences of driving under the influence or driving without a license.
