Crime Prevention Tips for Business
- Report suspicious activity/people to the police.
- If a crime takes place, report it to the police immediately.
Do not touch or disturb anything.
- Limit vision obscurements. At night exterior lights are helpful
to officers on patrol.
- All cash should be removed from the register and the register
drawer left open (a closed drawer entices a thief to pry just
to check).
- Cash should be removed from the business at the close of each
business day. If this is not possible, cash left in the business
should be locked in a safe.
- Doors should be secured with good quality dead bolts.
- Alarms and surveillance cameras are good but they are an investment.
They require maintenance and employees must be trained on how
to use them properly. If you elect to install either or both of
these devices, contact several reputable dealers and get estimates.
