All utility service bills are generated on the 25th of each month and shall be payable upon receipt. Utility bills become delinquent 30 days after billing. Delinquent bills not paid will result in the City turning off your water service.
|
|
7. |
The following penalties and fees have been approved by the City Council and apply to delinquent accounts: |
| |
30-Day Penalty (10%)
The due date for the utility bill is the 25th of the next month. For example, a bill sent out April 26th would be due by May 25th. Bills not paid by their due date will be assessed a 10% penalty on all past due amounts. To avoid this charge, pay the bill on or before the 25th. This will keep the account current.
45-Day Penalty (48-hour Notice, $15.00)
Bills that remain unpaid for 45 days will be charged a 48-hour notice penalty of $15.00, and get a 48-hour notice hung on their door. For example, a bill sent out on April 25th that remains unpaid until June 10th will have a $15.00 penalty charged to their account. A 48-hour notice tag will then be hung on the door. The 48-hour notice hung on the door, gives 48-hours to bring the account current, or else the water will be shut off.
Water Turn Off Penalty ($30.00)
Bills that still remain unpaid after the 48-hour notice period (normally two working days after the 48-hour notice is hung), will be charged $30.00 and have their water turned off. In order to have the water turned back on, all past due amounts and penalties must be paid. |
| |
Example, Month of April Billing:
Bill mailed: April 26th
Bill due: May 25th
10% late penalty: May 26th
$15.00 48-hour Notice: June 11th
$30.00 Water Turn Off Penalty: Two working days after June 11th
|
ALL DELINQUEST CHARGES AND PENALTIES MUST BE PAID BEFORE WATER SERVICE WILL BE RESTORED.
